Summer Sixteen / Destination Monaco with Jacob&Co
We felt like we were working hard this year (or was it ‘hardly working’..?) so our team decided to get away from London’s warm, though still rainy Summer season and fly to Monte-Carlo, Monaco. And just as we decided to have ourselves a little vacation we suddenly remembered it’s that time of the year again. It’s that time, when Jacob&Co has their annual party at Hermitage to celebrate a full month of exhibiting some of the craziest jewelry/timepieces out there. Combining business and pleasure? Scratch that. We were combining pleasure with more pleasure.
First thing we did when we got to the seaside? ..Hit the pool! (duh..) And take some of the most expensive wristwear in the whole town of Monte Carlo off Jacob’s wrist.
After a nice day by the water we finally decided it’s time to take some photos of the watches up close so that you can see what we were facing. First of all let me just say that not a single photo in the world (even by our camera mastermind James) will ever capture the true beauty of Jacob & Co Astronomia. A dial so deep, different and dynamic no one in their right mind would be looking at anything else if it’s next to them.
Then, of course, there’s the SF24 and its variations. A watch that takes the GMT function to a different level. And a Twin Turbo – twin triple-axis tourbillon, minute repeater beast that looks like a transformer and sounds like a classical music orchestra.
And if all that wasn’t enough Jacob has gathered arguably the biggest collection of baguette diamonds in town as he showed some of the most expensive and shiny high jewelry masterpieces. The notorious one of them all though, is the $18’000’000 ‘Billionaire’ tourbillon surrounded by a full baguette diamond case and bracelet. The name does it justice as we don’t really see anyone except billionaires would be able to afford it.
After a good night rest the main event kicked off. Jacob Arabo is indeed a man of great taste, and not only when it comes to watches or jewelry. You’ll see what we mean by that in just a second (unless you couldn’t care less about this text and are already scrolling through pictures of Jacob’s beautiful models)..
My outfit of the day included a Jacob & Co ‘Epic SF24 Racing’ in deep green, as well as a matching double breasted dinner jacket from Suit Supply.
As the party continued it got dark in Monte-Carlo. And when it gets dark the cameras turn off, and the rest isn’t going to be part of this story.
