Phillip’s Geneva Watch Auction
Phillips has established themselves as the no. 1 auction house in the world in terms of vintage watches, with many million-dollar-watches during this year.
The Geneva Auctionoffered by Phillips will take place on November 10-11 with 200+ lots, including some of the most important timepieces of the 20thcentury. Although it’s not a surprise, the two leading watches with the highest estimates are an important Rolex Sea-Dweller ref. 1665 with a “single red” dial from 1967 (est. $512,000–1,020,000 USD) and a Patek Philippe ref. 3974 in platinum from 1994. (est. $717,000–1,020,000 USD). Phillips describes the Paket as “the epitome of the famed brand’s technical and design prowess of the late 20th century.”
A big surprise in the line-up is the 2018 “Rainbow Daytona” by Rolex, which gained massive attention during its release. It’s very interesting to see the hammer price on such a new, yet very rare watch. We wouldn’t be surprised if the selling price exceeded the estimate of $154,000–256,000 USD.
However, our favorite piece is lot 14, the F.P. Journe very limited platinum tourbillion from 1998, with a high estimate of $184,000 USD.
