Dubai Adventures – McLaren & Ferrari x Watches (Pt.6)

Posted by Ed on

Now that the GPHG is over I can continue posting about our #TeamWatchAnish Dubai Adventures, this time taking you to the palm area of Dubai, where our good friend Shahz from K2Luxury watches (www.instagram.com/k2luxurywatches) drove us to show some really nice cars and watches he had prepared for our shoot! Of course our car experts Alan (www.instagram.com/alan_enileev) and  Alex (www.instagram.com/markovsky) were there to cover everything and we’ve got some really nice photos of a Ferrari and McLaren as well as a some very cool watches to show from that trip :)

And before I start talking about the cars and watches I want to take a second to say that we’ve officially launched an automotive section on the website, and now all the car geeks like us can enjoy our own photos by @Markovsky and combine the experience of checking out the timepieces with those cars! Congrats to us :) Now to the first car of the post – the McLaren MP4-12C, or as we call it today – just the ’12C’, is a beast in black, and an overall badass, that goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Letter ‘C’ in the name stands for Carbon, but I might be wrong as I took this fact from Wikipedia (MrWatchGuide, not MrCarGuide, remember? :) )

Personally, I love every detail of the McLaren, starting from the breaks and to every single part of the interior… Another fun fact about the car (according to Wikipedia) is that in 2011 it had the second fastest time on the ‘Top Gear’ track with completing it in 1:16 minutes. Even though it’s a V8 engine the top speed of this baby is 329 km/h (that’s fast!) and as McLaren is in its core a sports car there is nothing unnecessary in it (like the 2 seats in the back… who needs those, right?!)

Second car we were shooting this day is not my personal favorite (definitely when compared to the McLaren) – the Ferrari FF. Remember just now I sarcastically said the 2 back seats are not needed in a sports car? Well, I wasn’t sarcastic, Ferrari! To this day I do not get why there are 4 seats in this vehicle – Ferrari is made for speeding up with a girl next to you, not a family vacation! Nevertheless, the photos of it turned out great, so I need to say a couple of nice things about the car :)

I actually like the front of it a lot, and the fact that it’s a four-wheel drive makes the riding more comfortable and easy. It goes from 0 to 100 in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 335 km/h, as well as a price of roughly $200’000 (unless you’re from Russia, then it’s much more). Now whoever else here thinks I’m stupid for choosing an MB&F HM4 instead of the FF please feel free to raise hell in the comment section, otherwise tell me what watch you’d buy instead of a $200k car!

Speaking of watches, we just happened to have some of them with us on the shoot! And one of them – the Hublot Dubai Visions limited edition helped us discover the uniqueness of this certain FF, with the UAE flag being a part of the interior.

Next watch we had with us is something you’ve seen already if you were following the Dubai Adventures series of articles – that is the Linde Werdelin Spidospeed Gold. A ridiculously photogenic and beautiful chunk of rose gold (actually made of one solid piece) and a chronograph make up this awesome watch!

As for our friend Shahz (@k2luxurywatches), who invited us to see the cars, he also had a couple of beauties up his sleeve! As he is known in our watch community for finding and selling some very rare end exclusive pieces he thought he had to bring something I would appreciate along. My favorite Patek Philippe 5726A was now inda house! The PERFECT annual calendar (first for PP to be made in the nautilus casing) with a moon phase and a steel case mixed with the leather strap is something of a dream for me, and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on it.

And the second piece that Shahz brought with him was the Chopard ‘Mille Miglia’ racing machine, the ‘Gran Turismo XL’, that carries an automatic movement in the 44 mm steel sporty casing. It might not be a very complicated piece but it’s definitely a cool one nevertheless!

Thank You guys for reading this post, as usual I hope you all enjoyed it, and now that our comment section is back on track I’d love to hear some feedback about our new car section: what do you think we should take a look at, and how you like it so far :)
